Limitations
This section describes the limitations regarding the HCS feature
- The current HCO has a limitation when checking HIP reports that contain a list of
items, where each item has multiple attributes. It is not possible to create a
single rule that verifies a specific combination of attributes for a single item
within that list.
For example, in the Anti-Malware category, you cannot create one HCO to check
if the vendor Microsoft Defender specifically has real-time protection set to 'Yes'. You
can only create separate objects: one to check if any installed product is from
Microsoft and another to check if any product has real-time protection enabled. The
system cannot correlate that both conditions are true for the same product instance.
- This limitation on correlating specific attributes applies to the following HIP
categories:
- Anti-Malware (e.g., correlating a specific vendor with its last-scan-time or
real time protection status)
- Patch-Management (e.g., correlating a specific patch with its severity)
- Disk-Backup (e.g., correlating a specific vendor with its
last-backup-time)
- For reliable HCS connectivity, both the management interface and the data interface
(used for service routes) must be configured with static IP addresses. Using dynamic
IPs assigned by DHCP will cause connection failures.
- HCS connectivity is not supported with IPv6.
