Complete the following tasks before you Install the Panorama Virtual Appliance:
Use your browser to access the Palo Alto Networks Customer Support web site and Register Panorama You will need the Panorama serial number that you received in the order fulfillment email. After registering Panorama, you can access the Panorama software downloads page. Review the supported Panorama hypervisors to verify the hypervisor meets the minimum version requirements to deploy Panorama. If you will install Panorama on a VMware ESXi server, verify that the server meets the following minimum system requirements. These requirements apply to Panorama 5.1 and later releases.
Minimum System Requirements for Panorama on a VMware ESXi Server
64-bit kernel-based VMware ESXi 5.1, 5.5, 6.0, or 6.5. Panorama running on ESXi 5.5 and later versions supports a virtual disk of up to 8TB. Panorama running on an earlier ESXi version supports a virtual disk of up to 2TB. The minimum supported version of the virtual hardware family type (also known as the VMware virtual hardware version) on the ESXi server is vmx-09. A client computer with one of the following: VMware vSphere Client or VMware Infrastructure Client that is compatible with your ESXi server. Use the following guidelines for allocating CPU and memory: 1–10 managed firewalls: 4 cores and 4GB. 11–50 managed firewalls: 8 cores and 8GB. 51-1,000 managed firewalls: 8 cores and 16GB. 52GB disk space. Panorama allocates approximately 11GB for log storage. Increasing the disk space doesn’t increase the log storage capacity. To Expand Log Storage Capacity on the Panorama Virtual Appliance, you must add another virtual disk or set up access to a Network File System (NFS) datastore.
