The Prisma Access Agent is an application that's available on macOS, Windows, or Linux devices to enable you
to access your organization’s applications and services securely from anywhere in the
world. Prisma Access Agent uses principles of zero trust network access and the same
security policies that protect the sensitive resources in your organization's network.
Use the Prisma Access Agent to access your organization's network, resources in the
network, software-as-a-service applications, or the internet, and to secure your device
against threats that you might encounter on the internet. When connected, Prisma Access
Agent sends traffic from your device to Prisma Access or NGFW, where the data is
inspected and secured from threats and malware.
Depending on how your administrator configured the Prisma Access Agent, you will connect
using one of the following connection modes:
- Always On—In always on mode, you're automatically connected
to your network using the best available Prisma Access location whenever you log
on to your device.
- On Demand—In on-demand mode, you decide when to connect to
the best location using the Prisma Access Agent app.
- (macOS and Windows agents only) Pre-Logon—In pre-logon mode, Prisma Access Agent will
automatically connect your network even before you log on to your operating system.
Pre-logon enables IT maintenance tasks to be performed
without user intervention, such as pushing agent upgrades to your device.
