Remote Networks Site-Based Licensing

Learn how site-based licensing works starting with Prisma Access 6.0.
Where Can I Use This? What Do I Need?
  • Prisma Access (Managed by Strata Cloud Manager)
  • Prisma Access (Managed by Panorama)
Prisma Access 6.0 introduces site-based licensing for Remote Networks, enhancing flexibility and simplifying deployment for branch sites. This licensing model lets you allocate your sites with predefined bandwidth capacities, ranging from 25 Mbps to 2.5 Gbps. By moving away from aggregate bandwidth-based licensing, you can more easily estimate and allocate resources for your remote locations.
With site-based licensing, you no longer need to preallocate bandwidth to specific Prisma Access compute regions or configure redundancy manually. This approach reduces complexity in network planning and provides a more straightforward way to manage and scale your branch sites. Using this model, you can focus on the number and types of sites needed rather than estimating total bandwidth consumption across your network. Site-based licensing in Prisma Access aligns better with your organizational structure and growth plans, providing a more intuitive and scalable approach to securing and connecting your branch sites.
Some features and configurations are not supported for site-based licensing.
Site-based licensing introduces several key enhancements to improve your organization's Prisma Accesss experience:
  • Support for Large Branch Offices—With Large (1 Gbps) and X-Large (2.5 Gbps) site types, you can now effectively secure and connect large branch locations with high-bandwidth requirements.
  • Egress NAT Support—All site licenses include egress NAT capabilities, allowing for more flexible network address translation configurations at your remote locations.
  • Regional Redundancy Support—Your site license now includes regional redundancy at no additional charge, eliminating the need for separate redundancy configuration and providing enhanced reliability for your branch connections.
Site-based licensing offers you the following site types:
  • Very Small (up to 25 Mbps)
  • Small (up to 50 Mbps)
  • Medium (up to 250 Mbps)
  • Large (up to 1 Gbps)
  • X-Large (up to 2.5 Gbps)
When implementing site-based licensing, keep the following considerations in mind:
  • Bandwidth Aggregation—Licensed site bandwidth represents the aggregation of both ingress and egress bandwidth at each location.
  • Bandwidth Enforcement—Licensed site bandwidth is enforced according to the selected site type, with no oversubscription allowed. You can experience degraded performance if a site exceeds its licensed bandwidth limit.
  • License Combination Restrictions—To achieve higher throughput exceeding 2.5Gbps at a branch location, you can onboard a remote site as multiple individual 2.5Gbps sites, enabling high-bandwidth and secure internet access. For instance, you can onboard a large campus as two separate 2.5Gbps sites through Prisma Access to facilitate 5Gbps internet connectivity. However, this deployment model does not support access to private applications.
