Understanding Tab Groups and Open Tabs Synchronization

Cross-device synchronization works differently depending on whether your tabs are organized into Tab Groups or kept as individual Open Tabs. Below is a detailed breakdown of how each type behaves across synced devices.
Tab Group Synchronization
When sync is enabled for Tab Groups (including all individual tabs contained within them) are automatically synchronized across all your signed-in devices. These groups will seamlessly appear directly inside the browser window on your other active devices, allowing you to pick up your organized browsing sessions without manual intervention.
Open Tabs Synchronization
Individual "Open Tabs"—tabs that are not assigned to any Tab Group—do not automatically open in the main browser window on other devices. Instead, standard Chromium behavior makes these tabs available on demand. You can access them by navigating to History > Tabs from other devices in the browser menu, where you can selectively choose which tabs to open on your current device.
