Remote Browser Isolation (RBI) 2.7 introduces enhanced print options for isolated
webpages, enabling users to configure various print settings that more closely match the
native browser printing experience.
Users can now select from various print settings before printing content from isolated
webpages, including:
Destination (Save to PDF or Print). Default: Save to PDF
Layout (Portrait or Landscape). Default: Portrait
Paper Size (Legal, Letter, Tabloid, A0-A5). Default: A4
Scale (10% to 200%). Default: 100%
Background Graphics. Default: Disabled
Header and Footer. Default: Disabled
Margins (None, Minimum, Custom)
Page range (Pages)
The print interface respects the user's browser preferred language, ensuring a consistent
experience for international users.
Print Workflow in RBI
Printing in RBI uses the following process:
Users initiate the printing of an isolated webpage using one of these methods:
Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+P
Context menu: Right-clickPrint
For example:
Print button on webpage (if available)
If the isolation profile associated with the website's URL category permits
printing, the following print dialog appears, where the user can select from
the available print settings.
The workflow depends on the print destination that the user selects.
To save the page to a PDF:
Select DestinationSave to PDF.
Modify the print settings as needed.
Save the print settings.
RBI generates and downloads the printed page as a PDF with the
webpage title as the
filename.
To print the page:
Select DestinationPrint.
Modify the print settings as needed.
Click Next.
RBI generates and downloads the PDF to the user's local browser
and displays the local print preview dialog, where they can send
the document to a physical
printer.
For
example:
As a best practice, don’t change any settings in the local print
settings except the page range and pages per sheet when needed.
If you make further adjustments in the local print settings, the
new changes will apply to the settings that you already made
through the RBI print options, which might produce undesired
results.
For example, if you changed the scale of the page to 50% in the
RBI print options and then changed the scale again to 50% in the
local print settings, the page, when printed, will be 25% of the
original size (50% x 50%). Likewise, if you set the scale to 50%
in the RBI print options, and then changed the scale to 100% in
the local print settings, the resulting printed page will remain
at 50% of the original size (50% x 100%).
Date and Time Format in Print Header
The date and time displayed in the printed header adheres to the language settings on
the end user's browser.
When multiple languages are configured in the browser, RBI uses the first language in
the browser's preferred language list for the date format in the print header.
Security Considerations
For the Save to PDF option, RBI applies only the print policy,
not the download policy in the isolation profile. This ensures consistent behavior
while maintaining security controls.
URL hyperlinks from the source webpage are preserved in the generated PDF, enabling
users to click on links in the downloaded document.
