Wildcards and Variables in Policy Rules

For ease of configuration, you can use wildcards or variables to represent the full or partial filename, folder path, or process name in policy rules.
The policy rules which support wildcards and variables are:
  • Execution restriction rules
  • Global restriction settings
  • Child processes rules
The ESM Console supports in many policy rules where you would specify a file or folder path or process name. For example, when you configure local or network folder restrictions, you can add one or more files or folders using wildcards or environment variables to a whitelist or blacklist.
