The Web App Installation controls force-install web apps on managed devices. The web apps install silently, and end users cannot uninstall them. Web apps appear in the app launcher and open either in a browser tab or in their own window.
Because a force-installed web app runs inside the Prisma Browser, all configured policy rules apply to it. Use this control to replace locally installed desktop applications with their web equivalents.
Removing a web app from the list uninstalls it from all managed devices on the next policy sync.
This control sets the Chrome Enterprise WebAppInstallForceList policy. A separate Chromium policy does not need to be delivered through GPO or an MDM. Remove any existing GPO or MDM configuration that force-installs the same web apps, to avoid managing the same web app from two places.
This control does not govern whether end users can install web apps themselves. Force-installed web apps are installed regardless of that setting.
To set the Web App Installation control:
  1. From Strata Cloud Manager, select ConfigurationPolicyControl SetsBrowser CustomizationCustomization
  2. Select Web App Installation, then click Add Web App.
  3. Enter the URL of the web app.
The URL must start with https:// and must be unique within the control. Specify the final URL — a URL that redirects can cause the installation to fail.
  4. Enter a Display Name.
Overrides the web app's name in the app launcher, taskbar, and window title. With no display name, the web app is listed by its URL.
  5. Select Add Desktop Shortcut to place a shortcut icon on the user's desktop.
Desktop shortcuts are supported on Windows and Linux only. On macOS this option has no effect; the web app is still installed and available from the app launcher.
  6. Select Install as shortcut only for websites that are not web apps.
Shortcut-only apps do not update automatically when the web app manifest changes.
  7. For Open in, select Tab (default) or Window.
  8. For Custom icon, select None (default), Use icon URL, or Upload an icon.
An icon URL must start with https:// and requires the SHA256 hash of the icon file as a 64-character lowercase hexadecimal string. An uploaded icon is hosted and hashed automatically.
Use a square PNG or SVG image, 100 x 100 pixels, up to 200 KB, with a transparent background.
  9. Click Add, and repeat for each web app.
  10. Click Set.
