Log File Count on Windows and macOS Devices

Set the log file count on Windows and macOS
To improve troubleshooting depth and analysis, the GlobalProtect administrators can now control the number of rotating log files maintained on Windows and macOS endpoints. This increased log history helps you investigate complex issues more thoroughly.
The Windows Registry path is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Palo Alto Networks\GlobalProtect and the plist path is Library/Preferences/com.paloaltonetworks.GlobalProtect.settings.plist.
  • PanGPSLogFileCount controls the total number of log files for the PanGPS.exe process. The allowed value range is 2 to 20. If a value is set outside this range, the client will treat it as the nearest boundary (2 or 20).
If the key does not exist, the default value for number of log files is 10.
  • LogFileCount controls the total number of log files for GlobalProtect client processes other than PanGPS.exe. This key affects the log file count for processes such as PanGPA, PanGpHip, and PanGpHipMp. The allowed value range is 2 to 20. If a value is set outside this range, the client will treat it as the nearest boundary (2 or 20).
If the key does not exist, the default value for number of log files is 2.
For more information on these settings, see View and Collect GlobalProtect App Logs.
