Set up SolarWinds Platform for Integration

Configure SolarWinds Platform user account access for integration with Device Security and Cortex XSOAR.
Where Can I Use This? What Do I Need?
  • Device Security (Managed by Strata Cloud Manager)
  • (Legacy) IoT Security (Standalone portal)
One of the following subscriptions:
  • Device Security subscription for an advanced Device Security product (Enterprise Plus, Industrial OT, or Medical)
  • Device Security X subscription
One of the following Cortex XSOAR setups:
  • A free, cohosted, limited-featured Cortex XSOAR instance
    AND
A Cortex XSOAR Engine (on-premises integration)
  • A full-featured Cortex XSOAR server
It's assumed that you already have the legacy SolarWinds Orion IPAM and UDT modules set up, whether in SolarWinds Orion or in SolarWinds Platform.
When integrating SolarWinds with Device Security and Cortex XSOAR, you need to provide Cortex XSOAR with access to a user account that has access to the IPAM and UDT databases. These instructions assume that you use the SolarWinds Information Service (SWIS) for API access to the necessary databases, so that database access credentials can be provisioned in the SolarWinds interface.
  1. Confirm that your organization uses SolarWinds Information Service for API access to the databases for SolarWinds.
  2. Log in to your SolarWinds solution with an account that has administrator privileges.
  3. Follow the SolarWinds instructions to create a SolarWinds Platform SQL-based individual account, or proceed to the next step if you already have an existing account you want to use for the integration.
The user account for Cortex XSOAR must be a SQL-based individual account to have access to the necessary databases.
  4. Follow the SolarWinds instructions to define what users can access and do in the SolarWinds Platform, and ensure that the account has at least read access for IPAM and UDT.
  5. After saving the settings for the user account, make note of the account username and password, which you will need to provide to Cortex XSOAR.
