Create a Visualization Map Based on Device Attributes

Create a visualization map based on device attributes such as subnets and profiles.
  1. Select
    Devices
    Device Visualization
    .
This page contains all saved device visualization maps so that you can return to view them later by clicking
    View Map
for the ones you want to see.
  2. Create a device visualization map.
    1. Click
      + New Visualization
      and enter the following:
      Name
: Enter a name for the map
      Description
: Optionally enter a description of the visualization map for later reference.
      Build scope
: Use filters to set parameters for the map. A map can contain up to 5000 devices, so define a scope to keep the number of devices within this range. You can narrow the scope by filtering devices by type as well as by various device, alert, and vulnerability attributes. This filtering behaves much like the query builder.
      Visualization methods
      :
      Device Attribute View
The visualization method you select determines the type of map you create. To create a device visualization map based on device attributes, select
      Device Attribute View
. First, group devices by one of these device attributes:
      Category
      ,
      Profile
      ,
      Vendor
      ,
      Subnet
      , or
      VLAN ID
. Then, optionally, depending on the attribute you used, organize them within each first-layer group by another type of attribute in a second layer:
      First set of groups
      Second set of groups (optional)
      Category
      Profile
      Vendor
      Risk Level
      Subnet
      Category or Profile
      VLAN ID
      Category or Profile
    2. Click
      Create
. It might take several minutes to build a new visualization. The build time is a function of the number of rendered devices and complexity of the map.
IoT Security opens the device visualization map in a new browser tab.
For example, if you set the first set of groups as
      Subnet
and the second set of groups as
      Category
, you’ll create a map that first shows devices organized into various subnets. Then if you navigate to the second layer of the map by clicking one of the subnets, you’ll see devices grouped by device category within it.
For maps with two layers of groups, you can switch layers by clicking the down arrow next to the visualization method in the upper right of the map and then choosing the reversed order.
      For example, if you choose
      Category, Subnet
, the map switches the first layer to categories and the second layer to subnets.
