GlobalProtect Gateway and Portal Location Configuration
You can now configure a label to identify the physical
location of GlobalProtect portals and gateways.
: Starting with GlobalProtect™
App 5.0 and with PAN-OS® 9.0 and later releases
You can now configure a label to identify the physical location
of GlobalProtect gateways and portals using the CLI or the XML API.
The GlobalProtect app displays the location label for the gateway
to which users connect. For Clientless VPN, the portal landing page
displays the physical location of the portal to which Clientless
VPN users are logged in.
If you do not configure the gateway or portal location,
the GlobalProtect app or Clientless VPN portal landing page displays
an empty location field.
When end users experience unusual behavior, such as poor network
performance, they can provide the location information to their
support or Help Desk professionals to assist with troubleshooting.
They can also use this location information to determine their proximity
to the portal or gateway. Based on their proximity, they can evaluate
whether they need to switch to a closer portal or gateway.
