Problems Activating Advanced URL Filtering

If you are having activation troubles, use these CLI commands to verify that you have an active and valid Advanced URL Filtering license.

  • NGFW (PAN-OS or Panorama Managed)
Note:
Legacy URL filtering licenses are discontinued, but active legacy licenses are still supported.
Use the following workflow to troubleshoot Advanced URL Filtering activation issues.
  1. Verify whether Advanced URL Filtering has been activated by running the following command:
    show system setting url-database
    If the response is
    paloaltonetworks
    , PAN-DB, the Palo Alto Networks URL filtering database, is the active vendor.
  2. Verify that the firewall has a valid Advanced URL Filtering license.
    Run the
    request license info
    CLI command.
    You should see the license entry
    Feature: Advanced URL Filtering
    . If the license is not installed, you will need to obtain and install a license. See Configure URL Filtering.
