Welcome to Strata Multitenant Cloud Manager Service Provider (SP) backbone management. Here you
can find contextual information and step-by-step instructions on various aspects of SP
backbone management.
The Strata Multitenant Cloud Manager enables you to use SP Backbones for Prisma Access
egress traffic, such as: BT, Orange, AT&T, and more. Without the SP Backbone
feature, Prisma Access egress traffic uses public cloud providers for network
backbone instead, such as: GCP, AWS, and Azure.
You can use SP Backbone for a variety of reasons, such as the following:
- Offer security for internet, SaaS apps, and private app access with high bandwidth SP connectivity to enterprises.
- Optimize Prisma Access network costs & reliability.
- Utilize high bandwidth “Unmetered interconnect” to the SP's connectivity backbone using GCP Partner Interconnect.
- Utilize SP backbone and ISP peering at scale for SaaS Apps, CDNs, public cloud services, and wider internet services.
- Utilize SP provided backbone metrics for end-to-end visibility.
- Send all Prisma Access egress traffic to SP edge or backbone (except GCP services & productivity apps).
- Enable and disable per SP and per Prisma Access location or region.
Explore the following topics to configure, view, and delete SP backbones and connections.
Depending on your license, the Manage page provides access to the
following:
- Add a Service Provider Backbone to get acquainted with the necessary prerequisites, including the required licensing and limits. Configure service provider profiles to start defining the backbone infrastructure.
- Add a Service Provider Connection to establish connectivity and high availability for your SP backbone. Configure connection profiles, specifying connection parameters, and verifying the connection status.
- View Service Provider Backbones to gain insights into the current SP backbone status and make informed decisions regarding optimization.
- View Service Provider Connections to get detailed information on established and pending connections, including status, bandwidth, and associated network services.
- Configure Service Provider IP Address Pools to offer granular Prisma Access egress traffic routes through public cloud providers or through your own IP addresses for backbone traffic instead.
- Delete a Service Provider Backbone or Connection to remove obsolete or unnecessary backbones or to terminate connections that are no longer required. Understand the prerequisites, potential impacts, and considerations associated with deleting a backbone or connection.
