Bootstrap the VM-Series Firewall on Google Cloud Platform
- Log in to Google Cloud Console.
- To add a basic configuration to the bootstrap package, create bootstrap files as described in Prepare the Bootstrap Package, and continue to Step 3.
- To enter a basic configuration as custom metadata, skip to Step 4.
- Select, and clickStorageBrowserCreate Bucket.You can use this bucket to bootstrap the firewall when you deploy-the-vm-series-firewall-on-gcp.html#id17CRDM00LH9.If you intend to bootstrap using a Google storage bucket in the same project, you must have devstorage.read_only IAM privileges.You can create and populate the bucket at the top level, or you can create a bucket with subfolders within it so that many bootstrap packages can share the same bucket.
- Enter the bucket name, choose the default storage class, and choose a location. Note, the location in the storage bucket must be compatible with the zone you specify for the compute engine instance.
- ClickCreate.
- In the Storage Browser, click the bucket name to open it.
- ClickCreate Folderand name the folderconfig. ClickCreate.
- Repeat, creating folders forcontent,license, andsoftware, as shown below. All folders must be present, even if they are empty.
- (Optional) If you created aninit-cfg.txtfile, open theconfigfolder. ClickUpload Files, browse to select yourinit-cfg.txtfile, and clickOpen.
- Open thelicensefolder and upload theauthcodesfile.
- Continue until you have uploaded all the bootstrap files.
- Add the initial configuration parameters as metadata.Addeach key-value pair as described in Enter a Basic Configuration as User Data (Public Clouds).
