Circuit categories group circuits based on their characteristics, simplifying network
policy rules. You can assign them to different network parts, define circuit categories, and
more.

Circuit categories provide a logical grouping of different types of network connectivity,
enabling simplified and reusable path policy rules across the network. For example,
you might designate cable broadband as your primary internet circuit and use a
metered LTE link only as a Layer 3 failover. By leveraging circuit categories, you
can easily apply this logic consistently across all sites with your policies.
In an effort to reduce
data usage on a
metered LTE link,
you can choose to exclude a circuit category from connecting to
the controller for device related services.
Circuit categories are initially defined during site circuit setup but can be edited at any time
from the SD-WAN Resources page. To modify circuit categories, navigate to
Configuration > Resources, then select Circuit Categories.
