You can configure global or local scope only for BGP peers at branch sites. The following table explains the learning and advertisement of routes based on global or local scope configured for LAN and WAN peers.

Scope	WAN-side Peer	LAN-side Peer
Local	Advertisement Global scope connected subnets. Global scope static routes. Routes learned from global scope LAN BGP peer.	Advertisement Only default route is advertised to peer.
Local	Learning Learned routes will not be advertised to other peers or to the controller.	Learning Learned routes will not be advertised to other peers or to the controller.
Global	Advertisement Global scope connected subnets. Global scope static routes. Routes learned from global scope LAN BGP peer.	Advertisement Global scope connected subnets. Global scope static routes. Routes learned from global scope WAN BGP peer. Routes learned from global scope LAN BGP peer.
Global	Learning Learned routes will be considered for advertisement to global LAN-side BGP peers only. Learned routes will not be advertised to other WAN-side BGP peers. Learned routes will not be advertised to the controller.	Learning Learned routes will be considered for advertisement to all other WAN-side BGP peers. Learned routes will be advertised to other global scope LAN-side BGP peers only. Learned routes will be advertised to the controller (i.e. to a remote site).
